Programmi Media Center per PC Home Theater

Tra giugno e settembre una buona parte del mio tempo Ã¨ andato nella compilazione di uno studio comparativo sui programmi Media Center in Software Libero e Open Source. Attraverso una vasta attivitÃ di ricerca e di contatto con le comunitÃ di ogni progetto, ho individuato i 10 progetti piÃ¹ promettenti in questo segmento, che Ã¨ ancora embrionale in Brasile, Italia e in parte d’Europa, ma giÃ ben sviluppato negli Stati Uniti.

L’articolo Ã¨ interessante anche per coloro che non sanno cosa sia un Media Center o un Home Theater PC.

I progetti confrontati sono: XBMC, MythTV, Boxee, Elisa, Neuros OSD, Freevo, My Media System, Entertainer, CenterStage + Plex e MediaPortal.

Between June and September a good part of my time went into compiling a comparative study on FLOSS Media Center applications. Through an extensive research and contact with the communities of each project, I identified the 10 projects promising great innovation in this segment, which is still embryonic in Brazil and in part of Europe but already well developed in the United States.

The article is interesting even for those who don’t know what a Media Center or a Home Theater PC are.

The projects compared were: XBMC, MythTV, Boxee, Elisa, Neuros OSD, Freevo, My Media System, Entertainer, CenterStage + Plex and MediaPortal.

Entre junho e setembro empreguei boa parte do meu tempo em um estudo comparativo sobre os programas Media Center em Software Livre. AtravÃ©s de uma ampla pesquisa e contato com as comunidades de cada projeto, foram identificados os 10 projetos que mais prometem inovaÃ§Ã£o nesse segmento, que Ã© ainda embrionÃ¡rio no Brasil e em parte da Europa mas jÃ¡ bem difuso nos Estados Unidos.

Esse Ã© um dos projetos que estamos trabalhando, juntamente com a empresa CivicActions dos EUA. Uma web TV que sera totalmente controlada pelos seus espectadores, do conteudo ao aspecto de interface do site, passando pela aprovaÃ§ao democratica dos comerciais, anunciantes, redaÃ§ao, editores, etc…
